DE ADERTON DURING NOBEL WEEK LIGHTS 2024
De Aderton is an architectural light art installation that was first exhibited at Klara Mälarstrand in Stockholm during the light art festival Nobel Week Lights 2024
.
By situating an illuminated wooden pavilion in urban space, De Aderton seeks to contribute to a more socially sustainable city that supports people’s sense of wellbeing and safety in public space. The artwork also highlights gender representation among the Nobel Prize laureates in literature by honouring the female authors who have been awarded the prestigious prize. The name of the artwork refers to the eighteen women who have been awarded the Nobel Prize in literature until now. De Aderton is also the prevalent name of The Swedish Academy and refers to its eighteen board members who are responsible for the selection of the Nobel Prize laureates in literature.
